On the morning of Easter Sunday Thames’ Paddler Pete Li and his paddling colleague from his days competing with GB seniors, Sutton Yeung, paddled under Westminster Bridge, thus crossing the finish line and completing the world famous 125 mile canoe race from Devizes to Westminster.

Having set off on Easter Saturday, as a senior double crew in a C2 from Devizes Wharf in Wiltshire, with hundreds of other canoeists and kayakers,  they paddled non-stop and overnight  in chilly conditions supported by a team of friends and family containing current club members Sarah McBride and Stuart Cole

The race is a world famous international canoe race which has been held annually over the Easter weekend since 1948.  It takes approximately 24 hours to complete andis a rigorous test of ability, physical and mental endurance and determination, requiring months of not just a strict training regime, but also meticulous planning, to ensure completion - about 30% don’t!

Thames Dragons are delighted to congratulate Pete and Sutton on their fantastic achievement!!
